Post 2 of the Night: Dior Fan-girl-dom and a Little Info on Dior Diva

I love Dior! Plain and simple.

If you put me in front of Dior and Chanel, I would go into both but I would only purchase from Dior.  Not that I hate Chanel, quite the opposite.  It's just that I find Chanel doesn't tickle my pickle the way Dior does.  There's something so elegant and feminine about Dior.  Perhaps it's because I lack both elegance and femininity that I try to compensate with purchasing Dior products.

While I'm too fat for RTW (at least to make it look good), I absolutely love their bags and shoes.  I would look at Dior shoes and salivate over the details.  I feel the same with the bags, such understated elegance.

What I do purchase my bulk of is in cosmetic and fragrances.  I absolutely love the Dior counter in cosmetics.  I never walk away disappointed or empty-handed.

Skincare:

I've tried many products and have finally found a regimen that fits my needs.  The core of this is the Capture Totale One Essential.  No matter what skincare I'm using, this magic serum kicks it up a few notches.  The beauty of this is that it's meant as a universal skincare booster no matter what the brand.

When applied alone, my skin is soft and supple.  When I use this in conjunction to other serums and creams, my skin becomes that soft baby's ass we all covet to have on our face.  I've tried some of their other skincare products, but none make quite an impression as this sucker does.

Cosmetics:

Then we have the color part of the cosmetics line.....

The foundations are great.  I've tried the Airflash and the Nude liquid and have been happy with both.  My main gripe is that I seem to be between shades.  I really wish they had a larger color range but the formulas are great nonetheless.  There's also usually some optimum way of applying the foundation, so have the SA show you and avoid frustrating applications.

The Skinflash is your best friend and every make up bag should have one.  It's a great brightener without a doubt, but also works to cover small imperfections and is great to use alone when you don't want full coverage.

The eye shadows might be a bit pricey but they apply flawlessly and blend smoothly.  My only complaint would be the Mitzah palette not having enough room between shades.  I wish they did something similar to the Nars Kabuki palette.  But the other palettes are awesome and totally worth buying.

The lipsticks feel more like lip treatments.  There's great glide with the formulas and with the exception of the glosses and Dior Iconic lipsticks, the pigment load is very rich.

Mascaras are probably at the top of Dior's sale numbers but they aren't my favorite.  I love the look Diorshow gives my lashes but I need a mascara that doesn't smudge, and unfortunately this one does.  I get raccoon eyes by lunch but I have friends who swear by it.  I recently purchased a tube of Extase mascara and will review if I use it.  It came in a box set with a miniature version of their eye shadow quad in Stylish Move.  Super cute indeed!  I really can't wait to try out the shadows.

Nail polishes are quite possibly my favorite.  I am quite the nail polish addict already but I absolutely love the colors Dior comes out with.  I always find at least one color in each collection that I truly love but I wait on it and a week later it's gone.  I don't have too many Dior polishes but the ones I do are beautiful, easy to apply, long wearing and usually one-coaters.  The brush is tricky at first but if you remember to keep the brush almost parallel with the nail as you polish, you really minimize cuticle drag.  The brush is also packed really thick so you can be sure to have enough color on the brush even if the color isn't dripping everywhere.

Dior Diva (for US customers):

Ever wanted to get rewarded for shopping?  Duh! who doesn't?  Well for the Dior beauty and fragrance aficionados there's the Dior Diva program.

You might or might not have heard of this from your SA and you might or might not be aware of the details.

First, go to Dior Diva here and register to become a Dior Diva.  This puts you on their list and gives you free shipping with $50 purchase when you buy from Dior.com, an invite to their annual auction (which just ended recently), product previews along with make up tips and special offers.

But the real draw is the points system.  This isn't an automatic points accumulation that you get with Sephora Beauty Insider.  For this part, you need to do a little work.

Whenever you make a purchase of Dior cosmetics or perfumes from authorized retailers, keep the receipts!!!!!!  Every $1 you spend (not including tax) equals a point which you can use to redeem for gifts through the Dior Diva program.  The website even says you can donate your points to Look Good... Feel Better.  This is great for all those spare points you have lying around that you won't use up in time.

Once you've accumulated enough points, you send in your original receipts and a filled out form to Dior found here.  They then mail back to you the gift(s) at the Diva levels you have chosen or donate your points to Look Good... Feel Better.

Gifts can change without notice and they come in many different levels.  Points are only valid for one year after purchase date so be mindful of the dates on your receipts.  Gifts can take up to 6 weeks to get to you once you mail off your receipts.

While Dior does sometimes have gifts with purchase, I love that they have a rewards program for loyal customers (or at least ones that spend a lot).  Plus when you buy Dior beauty items in conjunction with other promotions, this makes for a very sweet deal.

Double points at department stores are that much sweeter if you're buying Dior.  Holiday shopping and fragrance sets are even more rewarding when you can get something for yourself as well for the price of a stamp.

So remember, register to become a Dior Diva and start saving those receipts!

I have a charm bracelet coming my way (hopefully soon).  I will definitely show pics once I get it.

I've pretty much tired myself out so thank you and goodnight!

It's a Chilly Night Here in the Bay...... Mini Macy's Reveal

That's not a lot to talk about right?  Well guys, it's a Friday night and I'm chatty.....

The rain has subsided but it's still chilly.  I was planning to go to H&M to get some Versace action but I don't know if that's gonna happen.

No confections tonight either, was going to bake but I have to pick up bf at work later on so I can't start baking if I know I won't finish.

On to my rumblings.....

Tonight it started with a trip to the mall.  I had to drop off a package at the post office and decided why not look around while I'm here.  I spotted a Macy's, maybe I'll find something else from Dior I don't need but so desperately want.  After getting some $6 jeans at Old Navy I thought to myself, "Couldn't hurt to look." so off to Macy's I went.  Funny how once I get something at a good bargain I think I need to reward myself with further shopping.

If you do shop a lot at Macy's you might want to join the Thanks for Sharing dealy they have.  For $25 to enroll (the $25 goes to charity or so I'm told..... last time I applied and only $10 went to charity), you get 10% back on all Macy's purchases from now until the end of the year.  After which they send you a gift card.

I was avoiding this but after realizing how much I spent in the past couple of weeks on Dior I bit the bullet.  Granted I won't get 10% back on those purchases I made (stupid me) but at least I will from here on out.

I looked at Dior and wasn't tempted at all.  I was very proud of myself for not getting anything; I should be ashamed of myself for having so much as to not want anything.  I then looked at the Elizabeth Arden counter and remembered how chilly it has become in the past week.

I'm going to need something stronger for my face so that it doesn't flake off.  A super nice SA approaches me and I ask to get some Ceramide capsules.  I absolutely love them and one container keeps me set all winter long so I usually buy this at most once a year.

With this purchase the SA gave me samples of the Ceramide for eyes and a face cream with spf.  She also asked if I wanted to purchase this gift set.

I looked at the display case and hesitated a bit.  I just bought the Ulta make-up set not too long ago and I really don't use Elizabeth Arden cosmetics.  But as you can see from my pictures I got it anyways.

The kit is really nice.  In it you get an eyeshadow and blush palette, 3 lipsticks, 3 liners (1 lip and 2 eye), 2 glosses, mascara, makeup remover, loose shimmer powder in a quadrant jar and 3 brushes all in a gorgeous faux croc case with the zipper pulls shaped like doors.

While this might not be the best-est purchase with purchase gift ever, it's still a pretty bargain and a lot of these items would go great into making little stocking stuffers.

So there you have my mini Macy's review.....  I'm still chatty so another post soon to come.

OPI: Muppets Mini Set

When I found out that OPI was having a Muppets theme to promote their new movie I was ecstatic.

I believe the last Muppet movie I remember was when they were in New York and Miss Piggy was working with Joan Rivers at a make up counter.  I must say that was a damn good movie.  I think they were trying to get on Broadway or something....

Now in case you've been mock hibernating, glitters are back for the holiday season in a very big way.  China Glaze, Zoya and Essie have all come out with very sparkly polish.  OPI is no different.  Many of the colors in the Muppet collection are glitters.  Pain in the ass, sandpaper rough nails kind of glitter.

But I really have to hand it to OPI, these aren't your run of the mill glitter polishes.  There's definite dimension and all the colors and different sized glitter add even more depth.

So I go into my local Ulta (I now have 2 local Ultas yay!) and find the mini set which includes my only lemming of the collection, Warm & Fozzy.  I also found Warm & Fozzy there so I got a full size.

Onto the reviews....

with flash

without flash

Wocka Wocka! is a berry color with a berry shimmer.  This isn't a purple kind of berry either, more dark pink like a dragon fruit in the shade.  If fuschia and red had a baby, this would be the color.  Very pretty but nothing unusual.  Best part of this polish is that it's almost a one coater.

Excuse Moi! is a pink glitter base with larger hex glitter in silver, green, pink, blue and yellow/gold.  2 coats will get you good coverage but you will need a topcoat to smooth out the surface.

Designer... de Better! is a sparkly (not glitter but glittery) platinum/white gold shade with a light dusting of copper sparkle.  I believe this is made out of glittery metallic pigments so they act like glitter, only much finer.  This is an unexpected favorite and if anyone is looking for a silvery shade with a kick definitely try this one.

Warm and Fozzy, the only polish name in the set that doesn't in in an exclamation point.  This shade is composed of the same type of pigment as Designer... de Better! but it's in a warm gold shade with more copper sparkle in a blackish jelly base (not sure if it's intentional or from pigment bleeding).  This is a very Autumn shade and it totally reminds me of Fozzy's fur and hat.  Definitely not as in your face as Designer... de Better!, but this makes the color more wearable.  I'm so glad I got a bottle of this, especially since this color seems to be the one running out quickly along with Rainbow Connection.

If you were eyeing any of the Muppets collection colors I suggest you jump on them, especially the non-chunky formulas.

The only glitter that seemed to be in high demand was Rainbow Connection.  However, I have too many bottles of Party of Five to even think of getting a bottle of that one.

Confection:

This is coming in quite late but I totally had to show this confection.

My friend's son turned 1 recently (well almost a month ago) and she asked me to make a smash cake for him.  I totally agreed to making it.  And while I do need some fine tuning in my baking and decorating skills, I have to say this cake is quite adorable.

That's all for now, my next post will most likely be about my undying love for Christian Dior.

Bye guys!

Impending Blog Sale

So I have amassed quite a bit of nail polish in my Pokemon-like mission to "Catch them all".

I am now running out of room and really need to find new homes for these polishes.  Granted I only have 6 followers so I really don't know how much I'll be able to relocate, but I'll be putting up a bunch of nail polishes for sale next week.

Prices will range from $1-$10 and will include pics of all the polishes so that you can see the fullness level.  These are all polishes bought by me.  None of them were gifted from other people and a few of them are back-ups that I will never get around to using.

I will honor the request of the person that messages me first.  So if a color sells and it was shown as available when you messaged me, it just means someone got to it a little sooner.  I will try to update the available polishes as much as possible but will definitely update at least once a day.

I will only accept personal transfer from Paypal.  Shipping for items will be a flat rate of $2, if you wish to pay for upgraded shipping let me know.  Shipping labels will be made through Paypal so that you can track your items.

I think that's all for now.  I will be taking pics once the bottles settle overnight and get them up ASAP!

Thank you all and have a great weekend.
