Perfume of the Week: Pivoine Angel

So way back in 2005, Thierry Mugler wanted to do a special Angel scent that incorporated a floral into it.  Be blended his fragrances with one of 3 flowers: Lily, Violet and Peony.  But upon smelling these creations, he had a dilemma.  All smell so lovely with their own characteristics, which to choose?

Well, he chose all 3 and created the Angel Garden of Stars.

Rose would later join in, but that isn't our focus today.

Today, I will be focusing on Pivoine Angel....... the one blended with peony.

First off note that peony flowers have a different scent depending on species.  Some have no scent at all.  This is the same for roses.  But for purposes of fragrance, we will be going by how peony is usually represented in perfume.

This scent opens up with a beautiful and slightly sweet floral note.  As it wears on, the Angel starts to come through and you get the deepness of the patchouli keeping the scent grounded.  But unlike the original Angel, there's something flirty to this scent.  It must be the peony right?  A grown-up sweet floral that is not marketed towards young girls and sure to please adults.

But if and only if you like Angel.

Happy Lunar New Years.  Hope your year is filled with love, happiness and good fortune.

Live Happy!
